Honey is most often reached for at breakfast, but it holds up well in savory cooking, drinks and simple desserts too. None of the ideas below are precise recipes — more a starting list to adapt with whatever honey you have on hand.
Savory
- Whisked into a mustard vinaigrette for roasted root vegetables.
- Brushed over vegetables or flatbread in the last few minutes of grilling, since honey can burn quickly at high heat.
- Stirred into a pan sauce with lemon to balance a rich dish.
Drinks and simple desserts
- Stirred into warm (not boiling) mint tea instead of sugar.
- Spooned over plain yogurt with toasted nuts.
- Warmed gently with a little butter and poured over pancakes or msemen.
A reminder from our FAQ: honey should not be given to children under 12 months old, in any of the uses above.
